Laos is gearing up to select its inaugural entry for the first-ever Eurovision Song Contest Asia in 2026. The chosen artist, Thinla, will showcase three different songs during the national selection show titled Sieng Lao: The One.

National Selection Format

The selection will be broadcast in two parts: the first episode on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, will feature Thinla performing the three candidate songs. The results will be revealed in a follow-up show on Thursday, 24 September 2026. Both shows will air at 15:30 CEST (20:30 ICT).

Audiences worldwide can watch both episodes live via the official Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel, while viewers in Laos may tune in through the local broadcaster VTE9.

Voting System

Fans can cast votes for their favorite song during a 24-hour window following the performance show. Voting is free and allows up to eight votes per person. International votes will comprise 20% of the final result, with Laotian public votes contributing 40%, and a professional jury also holding 40% of the weighting.

Hosts and Jury

The shows will be hosted by Tot Lina, presenting in English, and Lanny, who will address the Lao-speaking audience. The judging panel includes Ola Blackeyes, Sack Cells, and Baby Max, who will provide commentary on the competing songs.

Looking Ahead to Eurovision Song Contest Asia

Thinla will have the distinction of being the first artist to represent Laos at Eurovision Song Contest Asia, which will be held in Bangkok on Saturday, 14 November 2026.

Fans can pre-listen to all three songs before voting. Ticket sales for the contest will begin on 2 October 2026, with a Eurofan presale starting a day earlier. The event promises to be a landmark occasion in bringing together Eurovision's spirit with Asia's vibrant music scene.
