Ukraine sets plans for Eurovision 2027

Ukrainian broadcaster Suspilne has confirmed it will use the Vidbir national final once more to select Ukraine’s entry for the 71st Eurovision Song Contest, set to take place in Burgas. Following the milestone tenth edition of Vidbir, which chose LELÉKA’s “Ridnym” for the 2026 contest in Vienna, the beloved selection show will return in early 2027.

Selection process details

Songwriters and artists are invited to submit entries until Monday, 2 November 2026. After the submission window closes, Suspilne will create a longlist of up to 12 acts to audition. Subsequently, a shortlist of at least six finalists will be announced in December. An additional Vidbir final spot will be reserved for a public vote winner drawn from the remaining longlisted artists who did not make the shortlist.

Ukraine’s Eurovision history

Ukraine debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 and quickly established itself as a strong competitor. The country has won three times: first in 2004 with Ruslana’s energetic “Wild Dances,” bringing the contest to Kyiv for its 50th edition; then in 2016 with Jamala’s poignant “1944,” which also received the Marcel Bezençon Award for artistry; and most recently in 2022 with Kalush Orchestra’s “Stefania,” the first rap song to win Eurovision.
