Swedish broadcaster SVT has officially opened the submission window for Melodifestivalen 2027, the national selection that will determine Sweden's entry for the 71st Eurovision Song Contest set to take place in Burgas.

The submission period started on Friday, 21 August and will remain open for three weeks, closing on Friday, 11 September. Songwriters and artists can submit their entries through the official Melodifestivalen website, where the competition's rules for 2027 are also published.

SVT will select 30 songs to compete in the Melodifestivalen 2027 competition. Last year, ahead of the 2026 edition, Melodifestivalen received a record-breaking 3,888 song submissions, surpassing the previous record from 2011 of 3,832. The 2026 submission volume was also more than a thousand greater than the 2,794 entries received in 2025.

Melodifestivalen 2026 was won by FELICIA with the energetic dance track "My System." FELICIA went on to represent Sweden at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna, reaching the Grand Final and topping both the official singles and radio airplay charts in Sweden for several weeks.

With the competition now underway to find Sweden's 2027 Eurovision entry, excitement is building among fans and artists eager to follow in FELICIA's footsteps.
