North Macedonia's national broadcaster MRT has officially announced the country's return to the Eurovision Song Contest for the 2027 event in Burgas, Bulgaria. This follows a hiatus of four contests, with the last participation taking place at Turin 2022, where Andrea performed the song "Circles."

North Macedonia has taken part in 21 Eurovision editions since its debut in Birmingham 1998, and the country has consistently placed within the Top 20 in each of its Grand Final appearances. The nation's best result came in Tel Aviv 2019, when Tamara Todevska achieved seventh place with her powerful ballad "Proud," which notably won the jury vote.

The country has experienced both highs and setbacks, including missing Grand Final qualification in 2008 and 2009 despite finishing tenth in the Semi-Finals, due to that year's unique qualification rules. Over the years, North Macedonia has been represented by several popular artists, such as Karolina (2002, 2007), Toše Proeski (2004), the girlband XXL (2000), Elena Risteska (2006), and Kaliopi, who represented the country in 2012 and 2016 and was originally set to debut in 1996 before non-qualification in a preliminary round.

MRT's announcement aligns North Macedonia with Bulgaria, another country that took a short break after 2022 but will return in 2026, following their first Eurovision victory. Fans look forward to North Macedonia rejoining the contest and continuing to add to its vibrant Eurovision legacy.
