Finnish broadcaster Yle has officially opened submissions for entries to the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest. Finland will once again select its representative through its popular national final, Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK).
The UMK final will be held at the Nokia Arena in Tampere on Saturday, 20 February 2027. A lineup of Finnish artists will compete for the chance to represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Burgas, Bulgaria, scheduled for 11, 13, and 15 May 2027.
A Celebrated National Final and Growing Popularity
The upcoming 16th edition of UMK has grown considerably in stature, not only as Finland's method of selection but also as a platform that has boosted the profiles of participating artists. UMK winners and participants often enjoy significant domestic success and expanded international fanbases.
The submission period for prospective entries is open between 17 and 23 August. Finnish talents are encouraged to submit songs for consideration by Yle.
Recent Success and Historical Context
In 2026, Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen's song Liekinheitin placed sixth at Eurovision in Vienna, securing Finland's joint second-best result ever. This ties with the 1973 entry "Tom Tom Tom" by Marion Rung and Blind Channel's 2021 song "Dark Side."
Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest once, in 2006, with Lordi's iconic "Hard Rock Hallelujah." The country will be making its 60th appearance in 2027.
