Latvia is set to transform its selection process for the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest by moving its national final, Supernova, into the 14,500-capacity Xiaomi Arena in the capital city Riga. This marks a significant change as Supernova will be held outside a television studio for the first time in over a decade.

The 2027 edition of Supernova will take place on Saturday, 6 February and adopt a condensed format by eliminating the previous semi-final stage. Instead, the competition will be a single-night event featuring all competing songs.

Competition Format

On the night of the final, songs will be scored by both an international jury and Latvian viewers. The top three highest-scoring songs will advance to a "superfinal," where all previous votes are reset. In this round, only the Latvian public will vote again to determine the winner who will represent Latvia at Eurovision 2027 in Bulgaria.

Call for Entries and Timeline

The Latvian broadcaster LSM opened song submissions for Supernova 2027 on 1 August, with a deadline of 1 October. The official lineup will be announced in November. Ticket sales and additional information will be available on the official Supernova website supernova.lsm.lv.
