The official preparations for the 71st Eurovision Song Contest have officially begun with the announcement that Burgas, Bulgaria, will be the host city for Eurovision 2027. Following DARA's victory at Vienna 2026 with the song "Bangaranga," Bulgaria will welcome millions of viewers to Arena Burgas, a modern sports and entertainment venue inaugurated in 2023.
The contest is scheduled to take place over three live shows on 11, 13, and 15 May 2027. In addition to Burgas, other major Bulgarian cities such as Sofia, Plovdiv, and Varna will also engage in official events, making Eurovision 2027 a nationwide celebration.
Participation and National Selections
Canada will make its debut at Eurovision 2027 as CBC/Radio Canada joined the European Broadcasting Union. They have already initiated a national search for an artist to represent the country, with public involvement expected in the selection process.
Several European broadcasters have announced their national final plans for 2027, including Denmark, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Luxembourg, Norway, San Marino, and Sweden. Italy's renowned Festival di Sanremo will, for the first time, dedicate a special night to selecting Italy's Eurovision entry. Austria and Switzerland plan to select their entries internally.
Ticketing and Travel
Fans aiming to attend Eurovision 2027 are encouraged to register with Eurofan for ticket sales access. Aside from the three main shows, ticket holders can purchase access to six preview shows taking place from 10 to 15 May.
Burgas is easily accessible by air, road, and rail, with the city airport located just 10 kilometers from the center. Airlines are increasing flight options during May, and local infrastructure includes popular e-bike rentals, public transport via Burgasbus, and a dedicated city transport app.
Looking Ahead
Beyond Eurovision 2027, fans can look forward to the upcoming 24th Junior Eurovision Song Contest in October 2026 in Malta and the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia set for November 2026 in Bangkok. National selection shows for Eurovision Asia are already underway, featuring multiple participating countries.
