Burgas Selected to Host Eurovision Song Contest 2027

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Bulgarian National Television (BNT) have officially announced that Burgas will be the host city for the 71st edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, scheduled for May 2027.

The Contest will take place across three live shows at Arena Burgas, the city’s newest sports and entertainment venue, which opened in 2023. The dates are set for Tuesday 11 May, Thursday 13 May, and Saturday 15 May 2027. This will mark the first time Bulgaria hosts the Eurovision Song Contest, following DARA's victory at Vienna 2026 with the song "Bangaranga."

Host City Selection Process

Burgas was chosen following a competitive process involving four Bulgarian cities. An international working group, including representatives from BNT, the EBU, and Eurovision experts, evaluated the bids through venue visits and consultations. Burgas was selected for its strong infrastructure, accommodation capacity, transport links, and clear vision to involve the entire city in the Eurovision experience.

Although Burgas is the main venue, other cities such as Sofia, Plovdiv, and Varna will participate in related Eurovision events, contributing to a country-wide celebration.

Dimitar Nikolov, Mayor of Burgas, said: "It is an exceptional honour for us to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. This is Bulgaria hosting Eurovision – an entire community, united and inspired. Our goal is for Europe to experience Bulgaria through Burgas."

Martin Green CBE, Director of the Eurovision Song Contest, added: "Burgas brings something really special to the Eurovision Song Contest. For the first Contest in Bulgaria, we want to create something truly Bulgarian but unmistakably Eurovision – a celebration that brings people together through music."

Event and Ticket Information

The Grand Final will take place on Saturday 15 May 2027, with two Semi-Finals on 11 and 13 May. Fans will also have the opportunity to attend six Preview Shows between 10 and 15 May. Interested attendees must sign up to Eurofan, the official Eurovision fan club, to access ticket sales.
