Aina Abdul has been announced as Malaysia's representative for the first-ever Eurovision Song Contest Asia, scheduled to take place in Bangkok on 14 November 2026. The news was revealed during the 40th edition of the Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL) music competition, held live at Unifi Arena in Kuala Lumpur on 15 August.

The AJL event, which showcased the best of Malaysian music and celebrated its 40-year legacy, included a new element this year: the chance for the winner to represent Malaysia on an international stage. By winning this opportunity, Aina Abdul will now compete among other artists from across Asia in this exciting new contest.

To document her journey to Eurovision Asia, Malaysian broadcaster TV3 announced a new TV show titled Malaysia Memburu Impian, which will follow Aina Abdul from her selection through to her participation in the contest. Episodes will air as part of the regular Thursday night program Melodi.

Malaysia is the second country to select its Eurovision Asia representative. Earlier in August, Nyendra was announced as Bhutan's first entrant for the contest following his victory at Rhythm of Bhutan.
