Lithuanian broadcaster LRT is preparing for the 71st Eurovision Song Contest by launching its national selection event, EUROVIZIJA.LT, to choose the country's representative for Burgas 2027.

The selection will span five weeks, featuring four semi-finals scheduled on 18, 19, 25, and 26 January 2027, culminating in a final on Saturday, 20 February 2027. The event will determine Lithuania's Eurovision entry.

Submission for songs opened immediately and will remain available until 11 November, inviting songwriters and music producers to participate. From the submissions, at least 30 entries will progress to the EUROVIZIJA.LT competition stages.

Notably, the 2027 selection introduces a new voting system wherein viewers can cast their votes online exclusively. These audience votes will be combined with evaluations from an international jury to select the winner.

Background on Lithuania at Eurovision

Lithuania debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 but did not score any points, leading to a hiatus until 1999. Since then, the country has been a consistent participant, qualifying for the Grand Final more frequently than fellow Baltic nations Estonia and Latvia. Despite strong performances, Lithuania has yet to secure a contest victory.
