German broadcaster SWR has announced the return of its national final, Das Deutsche Finale, to select the country’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 in Burgas.

Following a successful debut in 2026, where Sarah Engels won with the fiery song "Fire," Das Deutsche Finale will take place again early next year. Interested musicians have until Monday, 21 September 2026 to submit their songs for consideration.

The 2026 edition was notable for its fan-favourite songs and hosting by Barbara Schöneberger alongside Hazel Brugger, the breakout star from Burgas 2025.

Germany’s Strong Eurovision Legacy

Germany has participated in nearly every Eurovision contest since its inception in 1956, boasting two victories. The first win was in 1982 with Nicole’s peaceful ballad "Ein Bißchen Frieden" at Harrogate, a decade marked by multiple runner-up finishes. The second victory was in 2010 when Lena triumphed with "Satellite" in Oslo.

With Das Deutsche Finale back, Germany aims to continue its strong presence in the contest by engaging its audience with an exciting selection process.
