German broadcaster SWR has confirmed the return of the national final "Das Deutsche Finale" to select Germany's Eurovision Song Contest 2027 entry. The competition will take place in early 2027, and interested artists have until Monday, 21 September to submit their songs.

The 2026 edition of "Das Deutsche Finale" marked a successful return to this selection format, featuring popular songs and presenters Barbara Schöneberger and Hazel Brugger. Sarah Engels won in 2026 with the fiery song "Fire," delivering an energetic Eurovision performance with notable pyrotechnics.

Germany’s Eurovision Legacy

Germany boasts an impressive Eurovision participation record, having competed in every contest except one since the inaugural event in 1956. The country’s most successful period was the 1980s, highlighted by Nicole’s victory with "Ein Bichen Frieden" in 1982 and multiple runner-up finishes.

A second win came in 2010 when Lena's "Satellite" earned first place in Oslo, reinforcing Germany’s strong presence in the contest.

With "Das Deutsche Finale" set to continue, German Eurovision fans can look forward to another exciting selection process ahead of the 71st contest in Burgas.
