The Finnish national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, UMK, is gearing up for its 2027 edition, set to take place on Saturday, 20 February at Tampere's Nokia Arena. Following a successful 2026 event which attracted nearly 20,000 attendees from 26 countries, the broadcaster Yle has announced key details for next year's competition.
Tickets for the live show, the afternoon dress rehearsal, and associated events including pre-parties and after-parties will be available from 08:00 CEST on Thursday, 1 October at lippu.fi/UMK. The venue will be lively with music and festivities continuing until 2:30 AM local time during the event day.
Seven songs will compete in UMK 2027, selected from a competitive pool of 481 applicants — nearly matching the record set in 2026. A professional jury, alongside five public juries representing diverse backgrounds, chose the finalists.
The UMK 2027 artists will be publicly announced on Wednesday, 13 January during a live Yle broadcast. Subsequently, each song will be released individually on weekdays from 14 January through 22 January.
"This season includes a band with a truly international sound and ambitions abroad, a duo with an irresistible club sound that invites you to the dance floor, a dramatic and grandiose song that evokes cinematic imagery, an artist who appeals to a wide variety of audiences, a dark-spoken modern anthem spiced with distorted guitars, an artist presenting a new side of themselves with a fierce dance banger, and a song where a kantele melody grows to epic proportions," said Tapio Hakanen, chair of the UMK jury and Yle Music Managing Editor.
UMK has become one of the most talked-about national finals in Eurovision fandom throughout the 2020s, cementing a reputation for showcasing Finnish music talent that consistently charts on radio and streaming platforms. Fans and the public can look forward to another exciting edition in 2027.
